Terry and I went to the movie on Friday night. When we got to the ticket booth, we were only charged $6.50 each instead of $8.50. I quickly glanced over to the price board trying to figure out why - then Terry said to the attendant, did you give us the senior discount? She smiled and winked and shook her head yes. Then I said thanks....I think!
What made her give us the Senior discount? There is no way I look like a senior.....and even though Terry is much closer to being a senior, he really looks great for his age as well. So, I guess she was just trying to bless us.
My Dad LOVES his Senior Discounts....especially at McDonalds. He can get a Senior Coffee or soft drink for .25 cents. He will drive out of his way or he will pull in to any McDonalds just to take advantage of his Senior Discount. I think he goes to McDonalds more than I ever took my girls when they were little, put together. And he is not the only Senior that enjoys sitting at Mcdonalds and sipping their .25 cent coffee and something off the dollar menu. McDonalds must make most of their profits on children under 10 and Seniors over 60....which is fine with me, since I have stock in McDonalds...literally. When I worked at Frymaster in Shreveport, that was one of the perks, we were able to purchase stock at an employee price. So - keep going to McDonalds Dad!So let's hear it for the Senior Discount - I refuse to be offended - we saved $4.00 and I took our own snacks in my oversized purse. Which, by the way do not have to be "sneaked" in(or is is "snuck"). In our AMC Theaters, there is no policy about bringing in food and drink from the outside. You can bring what you want. So some people stop at their favorite fast food place before the movie and come in with a bag of burgers and fries, or chicken from Popeyes. It's no louder that people scratching in the bucket of popcorn.
By the way, we saw Vantage Point - which was a decent movie, but I can hardly handle that "Groundhogs Day" type of movie where they show the same scene over and over....but that was the point of this movie, seeing a scene from several "Vantage Points".
Another quick movie review - Martian Child - I watched it last night on video with Ashley and Jose. It was a great little movie - a good movie to watch with family. It is based on a true story.

So, you beat the system for a senior discount...how were you dressed? Then, you beat the system with your snacks? Do you and Terry have a cooler in your trunk? You may be older than you think...watch for that AARP application...I got mine recently. 15% off.

I remember many a story told by you Uncle James as to how your dad got the senior discount before he was a senior, but your poor Uncle James didn't! He loves to tell that story! Your dad is quite thrifty and I know his nephew REALLY takes after him! Guess it's in the blood....along with the carpet in the garage!!
I've just read all of your latest blogs. I was a little behind. I haven't read any since your trip up north. Thanks for my Valentine's present. I'm reading a book titled, Terror, Oil and Armaggedon. I want to get a better understanding on what's going on in the Middle East and how it affects us in the U.S. and more particularly how it falls in line with the end of the world prophecies. Very interesting book. I'm learning alot. Just want to say thank you for being YOU. I would love to do a blog with you someday, but my schedule is kind of hectic. Work 8-4 at the courthouse and then 5-8 at Nichols & Dimes. But call me when you want to do one, and I'll be there.
I talked to Terry tonight and I told him that the two of you have rubbed off on me (in a good way, of course). I was home alone one night and wanted pizza, so I went to Pizza Hut and ordered a small thin & crispy pizza. But they didn't have any small thin pizzas and gave me a medium. I hate to waste food, but I knew I was going to Baton Rouge the next day so I boxed up my left overs and gave it to a homeless guy sleeping under the bridge in Marrero. I thought to go across the river, but got a little spooked. Then I remembered about the people under the bridge near Walker Town, so I stopped there. It was a great feeling! The guy was very appreciative and I'm sure a bit shocked. I was glad I did it. I was proud of me. But I would not have done it at all had it not been for you and Terry leading the way. Be encouraged, you are fantastic leaders and there are people who are following (even if it isn't always visible). Love you lots!!!
